EPC Sports

EPC Sports was in need of an application for their junior tennis players (5 – 15 years old) where they could easily see their stats, connect with other players, post videos and pictures, register in events, and see their upcoming events, and more. It was also necessary to allow parents to register on behalf of their young children and, at times, control their account. There was a great deal to consider with this application, and I worked closely with the team to deliver a final application that met both business goals and user needs.

Discovery workshop

Personas, MVP, SWOT analysis & more

I facilitated an initial discovery workshop with key stakeholders to understand the business model, user needs, business requirements and a minimal viable product with which to launch.

UI Kit

I defined the visual language, colour schemes, fontography, icons, and avatars, and the components used within the application. I keep the UI Kit small as elements and components should be reused so the application can be easily used through a minimum amount of visual detail - removing anything that is unnecessary.

Monster Avatars

Since the app is geared for kids between 5-15 years old, I proposed that the children choose from a set of Monster Avatars rather than having them upload a picture of themselves. The idea was received well - here is a sample set I selected.

Product design

Reward system

As part of the application, the client suggested that kids could redeem their points for rewards in the application. The rewards could be more monster avatars to choose from, or actual products. I created a couple of potential products for the company such as a water bottle and ball cap as potential rewards the kids could get as well. The idea and product design were received well.

Dashboard

Colour-coded based on status

I thought it might be a good idea to have the dashboard switch to different colour themes for the kids as they gained more points and improved their tennis skills. It would serve as a bit of a status symbol. The dashboard changes to 4 different status colours based on skill level.

I animated the tennis balls in After Effects.
